“Mum you’re practically perfect in every way as a mum”. These are the words that This Little Pig uttered at it’s mother just on Monday. It was after a rather long and busy pack of Little Pig boxes and when these fine swines thanked their mother for her help she said “it was a priviledge to be here with you piglets”. Now if that isn’t the most gloriously good attitude we don’t know what is. Mothers are wonderful creatures, and in the case of Little Pig, very necessary to the mental and emotional health of these fine swines. Therefore the porcines use Mothers Day as a way to shower their Bron with glorious gifts and of course….food.
Here are a few suggestions if one is indulging in breakfasts and picnics lunches – you just can’t go wrong here piglet. Don’t forget to buy the card and most importantly WRITE ON IT (yes that’s happened to this fine swine before). Oink.
Breakfasts:
If you’re going for simplicity and you’re pretty sure you’re going to be hungover from an engagement party the night before, This Little Pig recommends the Avocado Smash. Quick, easy and so delightful especially when added to crispy bacon.
Cardomen and Nutmeg French Toast with Caramelised Figs, Strawberries & Ricotta – this one goes out to the sweet tooth mothers of the world and looks rather decadent and exotic whilst still being relatively easy to cook.
Silky Chive and Dill Scrambled Eggs with Lashings of Goats Chevre and Crispy Bacon is perfect for the “we’re sitting at a café but in actual fact there’s no screaming children, rattling coffee cups, whooshing of coffee machines and in general people because we’re actually eating café worthy food sitting in our backyard” kind of vibe.
The Zucchini, sweetcorn and haloumi fritters with smoked salmon and poached eggs are also great for the café food made at home vibe – so soft, delicious and fancy.
Picnics For Lunch:
Taking mum on a picnic for Mothers Day is This Little Pigs go to activity. It chills champagne, buys punnets of raspberries, one piglet makes homemade sausage rolls whilst the other makes bacon, egg, thym and Persian fetta mini quiches and if there’s the time and inclination a few crispy buffalo wings with blue cheese dipping sauce (omigawwwd). Combine that with a handmade card, sunshine, some big floppy hats and you have yourself a complete winner.
We could go on piglets but we don’t want to overwhelm you. The key here is delicious food, very kind words and the fact that your mum doesn’t have to lift a finger. Remember it’s very important to look after your mum because they are one of the few people in your life that look at you and see you as perfect when very often you are not (dad’s are pretty good at that too though ;). Now go forth and feed and cherish your mother dear piglets, we certainly will be! Oink!
